Keeping Up

Harper is just shy of 8.5 months old now. We have been very busy with lots of visitors over the past few weeks. Harper has enjoyed all the love and attention and has been very, very busy herself. She's crawling at top speed, pulling up on furniture, crawling up the staircases, and crawling about on the bottom shelves of the bookcases. Harper believes everything deserves a good clap these days. Last night, Harper sat up and clapped when her dad went in to check on her before heading to bed. When we go in to get Harper out of the crib after a nap or a good night of sleep, she is often sitting up and facing the door, waiting to sneak a peek at one of us.Serious pose with blocks. Love the hands on knees.

Harper having a good chew at Stone Barns. This has been a favorite place to take Harper since she was a wee little thing. We like to see all the animals, breathe the fresh air, and sip the farm fresh lattes. The other day it was too cold to sit outside, so we huddled inside for lunch and then got bundled for our walk.

Baby paparazzi shot.
Fascinating rendition of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider".

Here are some shots of the girl on the bookshelf.

Getting in position.Climbing up. Wave hello!
On the descent.
Almost there. Quick push-up from the fearless child.
Back on the ground.
After the camera.
Last weekend, we went to the NY Botanical Gardens to see the Orchid Show. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Obviously the few pictures we took do not do it justice. I have always loved an orchid, and these were hands down the best collection of them I've ever seen. Harper enjoyed the show as well, showing great interest in the waterfall we stumbled across on our visit. This girl loves her water!

After our garden tour, we went on a quest for a good cannoli, as Arthur Avenue is not far from the gardens. This is where the real Little Italy of NYC is and I have to say, having never been a cannoli fan, I am now obsessed. There is nothing like it! We also came home with some great freshly baked Italian bread and fantastic EVOO. Made the trip even MORE worth it! If only I had gotten a picture of my cannoli before I gobbled it up. For your viewing pleasure, of course.

Harper tries a "puff". The first day it was all about figuring out how to pick up such a small piece of food. She quickly got the hang of it and in no time was popping them in like candy.
